Another set of coasters added just now here It's always worth looking at different things like this to set mosaics onto. I've found it usefull to look over original pieces and then scaling them down in my head to fit them to the base size. In sizing up a mosaic for a floor you want to develop the eye to 'see' the mosaic in place. It's after this that you get your pencil and paper out and begin to take measurements and start calculating. And a good way to begin this is to be able to see a mosaic fitting onto a 10cm x 10cm coaster. Remember it's about working using a set of principles which you are able to apply to every Roman mosaic you create, regardless of size or design or compexity. |
